It is with great sadness that Seminole County Fire Department announces the death of Lt. Richard (Dick) E. Criswell, Retired

   Lt. Criswell age 55 of Casselberry, passed away, Wednesday, August 9, 2006, after a long hard battle with complications from hepatitis C which Dick believes he caught as he preformed his duties as an EMT which then turned in to Cancer. He was born September 13, 1950 in Fairmont, WV. He was a Marine and a firefighter, he loved woodworking and fishing. He will be honored with a “Line of Duty Death” funeral.

   Lt. Criswell was a founding member of the Seminole County Fire Department. having worked for the Winter Park FD before helping start up the SCFD. He was a firefighter in Florida for 34 years. He served the Seminole County Fire Department and its citizens from October 1, 1974 to September 30, 2005.
He was a charter member and co-founder of the SCFD Vertical Extraction Team as well as the Hazmat Team. He was on the International 1st place Award Winning Vertical Extraction Team and the Hazmat team in Seminole County
